Ashwagandha, also known as Withania Somnifera, can help increase vitality, energy and endurance. It has the ability to regulate the stress hormone cortisol and stabilise the hormonal system, especially the functioning of your thyroid and adrenals (it's the only adaptogen that has been proven to have a stimulating effect on the thyroid). It’s also known to improve stamina and sexual health. This root will reduce stress hormone production as well as the effect that they have on your body. If you’re feeling run down, overwhelmed or exhausted, ashwagandha will help supporting your normal energy levels and sleep to get you back on track.

How to use:

Add 2 grams of powder to your smoothie, tea, coffee or recipe daily.

Ashwagandha History

Ashwagandha originates from the Ayurveda, the traditional system of medicine practiced in India and can be traced back to 6000 BC. For most of this time Ashwagandha has been used as a Rasayana (herbal tonic).

Its species name, somnifera, means "sleep-inducing" in Latin. Somnifera indicates its traditional Ayurvedic use for supporting sleepiness. In Sanskrit, the word "ashwa" means "horse," while "gandha" means "smell" (on consuming it gives the "power of a horse").
